FD Liquified Petroleum Gases - Residential

Purpose

A permit is required to store, use, handle or dispense LP-gas, to install or maintain LP-gas tanks, or LP-gas tanks that are filled on-site and used commercially.
EXCEPTION:  LP-gas systems of 124 gallons or less (water capacity) used at one- and two-single family dwellings shall not require a permit.

Approving Agencies

The Maui Fire Prevention Bureau is authorized to approve these permits.

Processing Time

All permits are reviewed according to the chronological order in which they are received by our office.

Duration of Approval

Dependent on plan review and inspection results.

Fees

All tanks greater than 124 gallons in size shall require a permit at a fee of $100 per tank as set forth in the annual budget. Fees can be paid on the MAPPS Customer Self Service portal or at the Prevention Bureau by cash, check, or money order to the County of Maui.
