FD Hazardous Materials

Overview

A Hazardous Materials Permit is required:

  1. To store, transport on-site, dispense, use, or handle hazardous materials in excess of the amounts listed in NFPA 1, Table 1.12.8(c).
  2. To install, repair, abandon, remove, place temporarily out of service, close or substantially modify a storage facility or other area regulated by NFPA 1, chapter 60 when the hazardous materials in use or storage exceed the amounts listed in NFPA 1, Table 1.12.8(c).

How to Apply

Apply online at the MAPPS Customer Self Service portal.

Approving Agency

The Maui Fire Prevention Bureau is authorized to approve these permits.

Processing Time

All permits are reviewed according to the chronological order in which they are received by our office.

Duration of Approval

Dependent on plan review and inspection results.

Fees

The permit fee is $100.00.   Fees can be paid on MAPPS Customer Self Service portal or at the Prevention Bureau by cash, check, or money order to the County of Maui.
