WW - Discharge License – Monitoring
Businesses and Food Establishments that have been reviewed and approved to operate without a pretreatment device (e.g. grease interceptor, solids interceptor etc.) or are not within the County Sewer Service area may be required to obtain a Wastewater Monitoring License.
How to Apply
Go to the Maui County MAPPS Customer Portal to apply for your license (permit.) Note that the MAPPS system calls it a Business License. Choose the appropriate Monitor License type for your operation and follow the prompts.
Renewal applications are automatically sent to establishments three months prior to the current license's expiration. All establishments must pass a pre-treatment inspection prior to the issuance or renewal of a license.

- Food Establishment Wastewater Monitor License - Non-Sewered Area
- Wastewater Monitor License – Other
The Wastewater Reclamation Division will review your application.
A user with an expiring Monitoring License shall apply for reissuance by submitting a complete application on line (Maui County MAPPS Customer Portal), in accordance with Maui County Code Chapter 14.21A.100 at least ninety days prior to the expiration of the existing Wastewater Discharge license.
Owners should reapply for a license renewal three months prior to the current license expiration. WWRD will determine if an inspection is required prior to issuance of a license.
The Department of Environmental Management Wastewater Reclamation Division is authorized to process all Wastewater Discharge applications and issue resulting licenses.
Applications are normally reviewed within a week and the license issued provided all required information is included in the application.
Duration of Approval
All Wastewater Discharge licenses are valid for a two-year period. The license indicates an expiration date and is non-transferable. A Wastewater Discharge license expires at eleven fifty-nine p.m. on the specified date.
Fees are set forth in the Annual County Budget. There are currently no fees associated with this license type.
Set of Plans Required
Approved plans of the facility are required to be on file with the Wastewater Reclamation Division. Contact Wastewater Reclamation Division if you have any questions for your facility type.
